Safe-Night Placement Guide

The Safe-Night Placement Guide

Motion-sensor lights work best when the sensor "sees" you early and the light falls where your feet go. Use these placements for your Safe-Night lights.

General rules

  • Height: mount about 1–3 ft above the floor for paths (hallways, stairs, bedside) — light falls on the floor, not in your eyes.
  • Facing: point the sensor toward the direction people approach from, not at a wall.
  • Range: each light detects motion up to about 9.8 ft in the dark. Space lights about 6–8 ft apart along a hallway for a continuous path.
  • Surface: clean and dry the surface before sticking the pad; wait 10 minutes before attaching the light.
  • Daylight: the lights stay off in bright rooms — that's normal. Test them at night.

Room by room

  • Bedroom → bathroom path: one light low beside the bed, one in the hallway, one just inside the bathroom door.
  • Stairs: one light at the bottom step facing up, one at the top facing down.
  • Closets: mount on the inside of the door frame or the ceiling of the closet, facing the opening.
  • Kitchen: under upper cabinets, near the front edge, so the light falls on the counter.
  • Kids' rooms: low near the door so the light comes on when they get up at night.
  • Garage & entry: next to the door you use in the dark, at hand height.

Charging tips

  • Fully charge each light before first use.
  • Lights in busy spots (hallways) need charging more often than closets.
  • Lift the light off its magnetic pad to charge — the pad stays on the wall.
